Whew!!! Feels like I'm getting my sea legs. On Sunday, February 10--after taking a weekend off in the Bluegrass state--I spun Session 3 of the Sunday Bluegrass Breakdown from the WFCF studios on the campus of Flagler College in lovely St. Augustine, Florida.Racing out of the gate with Carl Jackson's "Ground Speed," the show highlighted both old "True" Grass, Bluegrass Gospel, and more modernist leanings on the idiom. At times I felt I was at church, particularly in the latter parts of the show when Patty Loveless, The Isaacs, and Alison Krauss weighed in.

I'm off Sunday, February 17, as it's DooWop Sunday. I'll look forward to Sunday, February 24th, where I'll be investigating the dichotomy between blazing traditional Bluegrass instrumentals and gospels tunes with the more expansive construction of progressive Bluegrass.
